We placed and lit the pairing so the classical work holds the room against the modern surfaces below — old and new reading as one deliberate composition rather than a clash.

An antique Venetian glass mirror centered over a limestone mantel in an ocean-view estate. Hand-painted chinoiserie behind it left no room for error — we set the crest between the branches and balanced it against the sconces so the wall, the mirror, and the light read as one composition.
